Year Team/ Vacancies

Oddments Theatre Company offers exciting opportunities
for people interested in using their performing arts gifting to
serve God, either as a Gap year or full time cast member.

Gap Year Placements      (September 2012 -August 2013)

Each year, Oddments offer a limited number of internships/gap year places which give applicants the opportunity to be part of the company's full time work. These run each academic year, and we are currently accepting applications for our team commencing in October 2012.

Our placements offer a great diversity of work; alongside performing the team will also be actively involved in all other aspects behind the scenes. This will include admin and office jobs, practical jobs such as cleaning and set building and the opportunity to develop new material and expand the group's repertoire.

Primarily, Oddments offer the opportunity for individuals to develop their gifts within the performing arts. The majority of our work is drama based, however we encourage those with other relevant skills to apply. These will all be used to serve God through outreach. Everyone on the team will find they learn and develop in defferent ways; however we do garentee a wide variety of performance opportunities including church performances, prison outreaches, schools work, a show and the occasional radio programme.

The schedule for the year is split into five phases:

Phase 1    Training
Phase 2    Schools work and Prison tour
Phase 3    Schools production and church events
Phase 4    Churches Together events and putting on a touring production
Phase 5    Christian festivals

Oddments encourage individual creative input from the team, and during the year we set aside time for members to develop their own project for use in performance. The year is not a training year, but there may be some one-to-one training to help you in developing these. On completion of the year, there may also be the opportunity to become a full time member of the team.

Overall, life on the Oddments team is never boring with lots of opportunities to grow in a number of areas and the chance to have an input into the development of the company.

Criteria

We are looking for motivated Christian believers with a love of performing arts who want to use their gifting to minister through a variety of performance opportunities. Applicants must be willing to learn through a team environment both in performance and behind the scenes and also be able to build strong relationships with others. They must be able to adapt to different situations and have a strong desire to serve others with humility. While reviewing applications, we will consider the candidates performing arts experience, their faith and the qualities they could bring to the team. Experience in the performing arts is vital, either at an amateur or professional level or through relevant qualifications either in drama or the performing arts.

Ideally we ask that applicants be between the ages of 18-35, although we will consider older applicants upon making contact with them. It is essential that you hold a British passport or a valid visa, or are able to obtain one before the team start date. Applicants must be able to speak fluent English. If you are offered an audition/interview, you will be required to travel to yeovil (in Somerset) and after this day you will need to be able to provide two references. If you are offered a place on the team, we will ask you to raise the funds to pay your fees and to support your personal costs throughout the year.
