We want to make a bit of a splash in 2010/11!

With 27 years of experience behind us and a whole host of our own material written, 'Oddments' have got some ambitious plans for 2010/11, with two main projects.

THE TOUR:

This will involve the formation of an additional full time drama team to tour the area for three-four months. Oddments plan to recruit a team of 5-6 people with drama experience. The team will be based and trained locally.

south-west map Once rehearsals have been completed, the team will embark on a tour of prisons, churches and some local schools work. We also aim to do some radio work and a number of shows. We are hoping that this programme will be the start of regular tours around the country and a creative base for Christian theatre in the area. The team will run alongside our existing group.

Barry Boyton is also aiming to work full time for Oddments during 2010/11.

There's a lot of preparation and fund raising to achieve this. The good news is that with years of performing behind us, we have most of the lighting and sound equipment and a trailer to move props and staging. Barry and Marion also have a people carrier to transport the team. We’re simply building on what we’ve already achieved.

Over the years work developed into its own ministry and for a number of years has had charity status. We developed a whole host of material to be performed and gained years of experience working with churches, missionary organisations and a circuit of prisons. We also have boxes of props we have stored.

BOOK RELEASE:

We’re aiming to have the ‘Oddments’ book completed by the end of the year and have it on sale cross the country in 2010. It will contain over 21 Oddments scripts for other groups to perform. It will also include a number of short amusing stories about when things didn’t go quite right, like the time we closed down the M5 and on another occasion put a youth leader in casualty.

The book is about 90 % complete in its first draft.
